Loss of any of one’s senses can be extremely debilitating. However, if your livelihood depends on your vision and you were blinded because of an accident, you may be out of a job for life. After the loss of vision, a person will have to adapt to the way they usually perform their day-to-day activities, which may include finding a different occupation altogether.
How It Happens
Visual impairment can range from degraded vision to complete blindness. The level of eye damage can vary depending on several levels of impairment. Any of the following events can contribute to the impairment of your vision on a temporary or permanent basis:
- Traumatic brain injury
- Broken glass
- Particulates in the air
- Corneal lacerations or abrasions
- Eye rupture
- Orbital bone fracture
- Eyelid damage
- Chemical exposure
